"Learning to like, liking to eat"
Don't we all wish our children can be like that? Many of you (yes, you as parents!) would have questions about when, what and how to feed my child.
When can I start feeding solids to my baby? What food is good for my child's growth and development? How do I prepare the food? What can my child not eat? My child is fussy- what can I do?
So many questions would have crossed your mind. Being a parent is not easy.
Fret not! We are here to guide you through this memorable journey as your baby grows up to be a healthy child.

Weaning
Weaning, also known as complementary food, is introducing foods other than breast milk or first infant formula when your child is around 6 months. Once your baby is 6 months old, he/she should be introduced to a variety of food alongside with your breast milk or first infant formula.
Yes! It can be confusing- knowing when, what and how to start your baby's weaning steps. We have tricks, tips, recipes, pictures and, even videos for you!
WEANING: Why not earlier than 6 months?
Your baby does not need additional food before the first 6 months of life. Your breast milk is sufficient as long as your baby is thriving (look at your baby's growth chart). Don't rush! It is not a race.
Deferring complementary food to 6 months of age will not result in your baby not accepting solid food in the future.
Introducing solid food earlier than 6 months of age means that you will REDUCE the amount of breast milk which is helpful in protecting your baby from infections.
At 6 months, your baby would be better at moving food around the mouth (munch, bite, chew and swallow)

What do I need to prepare before I start weaning my baby?
Parents tell us....
Forget about the messy face and messy floor, it is normal..

-
High chair - your baby needs to be in an upright position (for them to swallow properly)
-
First cup - instead of using a bottle, it is recommended to have open cups or free-flow cups (without a valve) to help your baby to learn to sip. Good for their teeth too
-
Spoons - soft weaning spoons (rubber/plastic). Easier for your baby's gums
-
Plastic bowls - if you want, can get those with suction base (if not, be prepared for a messy floor!)
-
Ice cube trays - useful for batch cooking and freezing small portions
-
Bibs -you wouldn't want your baby's beautiful outfit to be a 'disaster'
-
Place mat - you can also put a newspaper instead, handy for messy eaters, hehe..
